Cheltenham Township’s Emergency Medical Services Annual Subscription Program Offers Significant Savings for Residents

Elkins Park, PA - In 2019, Cheltenham Township’s Emergency Medical Service turns 37 years old in 2019.  The annual ambulance subscription campaign offers residents an affordable annual fee that will save them from being billed for ambulance services.

Cheltenham Township’s Emergency Medical Service (CTEMS) expanded the services it provides to residents since it was created in 1982. CTEMS started with a small group of dedicated volunteers handling just under 200 calls a year in a borrowed ambulance. Today CTEMS handles to more than 3,000 calls by trained staff and volunteers in four fully-stocked state-of-the-art ambulances.

A single ambulance call for emergency medical services can cost as much as $2,000. By purchasing an annual subscription, residents support CTEMS and save money if service is required. While CTEMS reserves the right to bill your insurance company, if you are a subscriber, you will have no out of pocket expenses.

The annual subscriptions fees are as follows:

  • $60 per family
  • $40 per individual
  • $25 per senior (over 65)
  • $50 per senior couple residents and save a significant expense.

While the cost of an ambulance call is on the rise, the Township’s annual subscription rates have remained affordable. Annual subscription fees can be made by check and mailed in with a subscription card or paid with a credit card online,. See  Details The payment processing company charges a convenience fee of 2.45% or $3.00 minimum to cardholders who use the online service.

Online subscribers are still required to complete the subscription card with the names of all members of your household and mail it CTEMS. Members are reminded to sign the subscription card before mailing it in. The annual letter and subscription card is available  HERE.

CTEMS has grown over the past 37 years, but one thing that has not changed is its dedication to keeping residents safe and healthy. Care begins when residents dial 9-1-1, and trained emergency medical dispatchers guide callers until help arrives. Callers should be clear when speaking to the dispatcher and make sure to say, “I am calling from Montgomery County.” This step is especially crucial when calling from a cell phone.

“Cheltenham Township’s Emergency Medical Service would not be where it is today without the support of the community and the Cheltenham Township Board of Commissioners, said Kenneth Hellendall, Director & Chief of Operations. “We thank you for the last 37 years and look forward to serving you for many more years to come.”
