EASTON ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT
From J.P.S. Construction Co., Inc., the Contractor for this project:
We, JPS Construction, have been awarded the contract for the Superstructure replacement of Montgomery County Bridge No. 268 -- Easton Road over Tookany Creek. The project will begin on the first of October with an anticipated completion date around May 31, 2019. The planned working hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with weekend and night work only happening on an as-needed basis. Access to and from businesses on Easton Road will not be affected and access to the bridge will be unaffected, as well. It is the intent of the contract and the contractor to keep the bridge open at all times. However, it should be expected that there will be lane closures with flaggers during normal workday operations.
Questions can be directed to JPS Construction's offices at (215) 277-5093.
Note from the January 2016 Update on this Bridge: As a result of PennDOT inspections, the weight limit of this Montgomery County-owned bridge located on Easton Road near the Toxany Avenue intersection has been
lowered to 13 tons because the bridge is considered “structurally
deficient and functionally obsolete.” Trucks over 13 tons should follow
posted detours using West Glenside Avenue and Limekiln Pike. Later this
month the Montgomery County Commissioners are expected to authorize the
first steps in the bridge rehabilitation process, which could take
approximately three years to complete.
